The inspiration for the name of the little gangster

The author was inspired by the social environment at that time and hoped to create a group of characters with great kung fu skills and from common people, who specialized in helping the weak and defeating social bullies and gangs. The word "Little" is used at the beginning of the title to give people a fresh and special feeling, and the protagonists' appearance is similar to that of gangsters, so it is named "Little Gangsters".

Undesirable Publications Ordinance

Although Little Rascals is a righteous martial arts comic that exposes the darkness of society and satisfies the desire of grassroots civilians for heroes to fight for justice, according to the research of the Crime Causes Research Subcommittee, comics are considered to be exaggerating violence, corrupting social morality, and contributing to the continued rise in juvenile crime rates...

1973 – The Hong Kong Association of Social Workers and other organizations wrote a research report on violence and pornography in comics, calling on the government to legislate to ban them.

1975 – The Undesirable Publications Ordinance was formally passed.

Therefore, in issue 99, Little Rascal took the opportunity of heading to Japan to change the title of the book to "Dragon Tiger Gate" and also restrained all pornography and violence, which allowed it to continue to survive.

Little gangster turns into dragon tiger gate

Little Rascals is set in Hong Kong between 1950 and 1970. It combats rampant bullies and the scourge of drugs, uses heroic deeds to speak for the common people, and has won the support and recognition of many readers.

Before and after the implementation of the Undesirable Publications Ordinance in 1975, the story background gradually shifted from Hong Kong to various parts of the world such as Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. The theme changed from social darkness and chivalry to the kung fu fighting style of Dragon Tiger Gate. Dragon Tiger Gate not only circumvented government censorship and removed negative labels, but also provided a broader development space for the overall story line.
