SKL's 60th Anniversary The Sandbox Experience is here!

During the MegaCity3 Land Launch event earlier this year, nspace helped SKL build a dedicated virtual experience on The Sandbox, using Jinbao as a Premium Asset to create a one-of-a-kind SKL experience.


This time, nspace will take you on a deep dive into SKL's virtual world on The Sandbox.


SKL's The Sandbox experience is themed around their iconic building in Taipei, the Shin Kong Building. When you enter this scene in The Sandbox, you'll immediately notice a door sign clearly labeled “No. 66,” just like the address of the Shin Kong Building in the real world, No. 66, Sec. 1, Zhongxiao West Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City.

And as you can see in their introductory trailer, the lion at the door is a perfect replica of The Sandbox experience.

SKL's 60th Anniversary "With Light, Every Expectation Can Be Fulfilled

In the lobby of The Sandbox experience, we can see SKL's brand philosophy in celebration of its 60th anniversary.

The picture shows four people representing different industries: a working woman, a middle-aged business executive, a retired school principal, and a long-term caregiver.


Through their life stories, SKL wants to convey the message that everyone has the ability to be a light, even when life is filled with fear and worry. No matter how difficult the challenges or life's twists and turns, everyone can be courageous enough to pursue their dreams, make an impact on others, and cherish every moment they spend together.

SKL's mission is to bring stability to society through “insurance” in order to realize the goal of “insurance for everyone and protection for every family”.


Every SKL employee sees himself or herself as a symbol of light. Even in the face of various challenges and difficulties, they are persistent and courageous, visiting every family in Taiwan to spread the concept of risk diversification through insurance. They provide personal protection and build a strong safety net for every family to realize everyone's expectations and dreams.

Since its establishment in 1983, Shin Kong Life Foundation has been upholding the motto of “Taking from the community and giving to the community,” and continuing the spirit of its founder, Mr. F.S. Wu, it has been committed to carrying out social welfare projects, including organizing activities or funding charitable projects.


Since its establishment, SKLF has provided nearly $160 million in grants to help individuals with urgent needs and in response to major disasters.

In addition, they have donated equipment related to the police, government agencies, and fire brigades, and provided more than $150 million in condolences to police officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty. The total accumulated donation amount has exceeded NT$3 billion.


In addition to traditional emergency relief, SKLF also works with related nonprofit organizations to include areas such as oral history, women's health, children's education, and volunteerism.

Breast cancer is the first cancer incidence rate and the fourth highest mortality rate among women in Taiwan, and it is most common among young adults aged 45 to 54.


According to the National Health Administration (NHA) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHFW), the breast screening rate in Taiwan exceeded 40% for the first time in 2017~2018, which is still lower than that of Japan, Korea, Singapore, and other countries.


In view of this, Shin Kong's affiliates combined their resources and decided to participate in breast cancer prevention and treatment activities.


In The Sandbox experience, we can also see a professional doctor and a mammography van to provide questions and answers on breast cancer prevention and treatment.


All participants of The Sandbox experience will be able to understand the importance of breast cancer awareness.

Shin Kong Life Foundation - Passing on the Arts


Across the street from the mammography van, we can see a huge canvas that represents the SKLF's efforts to pass on the arts.

Shin Kong Life Foundation's Legacy Art Program serves the elderly through the arts. Professional instructors utilize group-led techniques to allow the elderly, accompanied by art partners (volunteers), to record their past, present, and future life experiences through the creation of visual art, preserving their rich and colorful memories.


At the same time, small group activities are also used to increase interaction between the elderly and their relatives, allowing the elderly to use art to express their memories of joys and sorrows throughout their lives.

Established in 2010, SKLAS is a social enterprise specializing in the promotion of the arts to provide a better quality of life for the elderly, and was selected as one of Asia's Top 100 Social Enterprises by Singapore in 2018, which is a great recognition.

Next, we crossed the bridge next to the mammography van to see the Shin Kong LOHAS Volunteer Club.

To alleviate the problem of lack of human resources when non-profit organizations of different affiliations organize activities, SKLF integrated the human resources of Shin Kong's affiliated companies to establish the Shin Kong LOHAS Volunteer Club in 2009.


In 2009, the Shin Kong Life Foundation integrated the human resources of Shin Kong's affiliated companies and established the Shin Kong LOHAS Volunteer Club. The volunteer club serves as a platform to invite colleagues to devote their leisure time to public service. Since its establishment, there are about 1,000 volunteers who have cooperated with nearly 30 social welfare organizations and performed more than 100 volunteer services every year, with an accumulated service time of more than 60,000 hours.


At the same time, Shin Kong LOHAS Volunteer Club is also the first corporate volunteer club in Taipei City to be registered with the Social Affairs Bureau.

Shin Kong Life Foundation's Pen Pals Program


Behind the LOHAS Volunteer Club is the Shin Kong Life Foundation's Pen Pal Program for the education of young children.

Reading is undoubtedly an important way to improve language and thinking skills, and reading a lot is extremely beneficial to a child's development. However, compared to reading, writing has a more significant impact on children's language and expression skills. Writing not only helps to expand vocabulary, but also develops children's ability to organize and express their thoughts.


For this reason, SKLF has partnered with the André Chou Hua Charitable Association and the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Social Welfare Foundation to invite children from these two organizations to become pen pals and engage in correspondence. At the same time, to help children find suitable life mentors, SKLF also invites corporations to join the New Mentor Program and become pen pals.


Through the Shin Kong Life Foundation's platform, more children will be able to expand their imaginations of the future through the correspondence process, realizing that their lives are full of choices, and that as long as they have a dream and work hard, their possibilities are limitless.
