Since the development of agrarian society to industrial society, the role of women has changed from domestic work to factory labor. This change has altered women's way of life. Women were happy to be able to go out of their homes, work on an equal basis with men, and be paid for their labor. However, the harsh reality is that they face low wages, poor working conditions and long hours.
The First Voices
The first feminist movement can be traced back to 1857 in the United States. At the time, American women textile workers protested against poor working conditions and low wages. By 1908, the Bread and Roses protests had become some of the most visible and influential campaigns of the time. These efforts to break the patriarchy and fight for women's voice became known as the “feminist wave” or “feminist movement.”

The world today is experiencing a fourth wave of feminism, including the recent rise of the MeToo movement in Taiwan, a global social movement to expose and confront sexual harassment and assault. The MeToo movement provides support and a platform for victims and raises awareness about sexual violence and gender inequality.
Web Women 3
Web3 is the next generation of the Internet, based on blockchain and cryptography, with an emphasis on decentralization, openness and user control. In the era of Web3, women can leverage the power of decentralization to break free from traditional structures and achieve greater impact and sustainability. It provides a stronger platform for oppressed voices to be heard and for more people to join the movement.
Web3's technological innovations and community management model have opened up unprecedented opportunities and possibilities for women, and in the meantime, we'd like to introduce you to some of the women's platforms in Web3.
WOMEN IN WEB3 Helping women get involved in Web3
WOMEN IN WEB3 was founded to help women put their passion for innovation into Web3.

WOMEN IN WEB3 and The Sandbox have joined forces with the aim of encouraging women to take an active role in the creation of immersive experiences at The Sandbox through skills in the areas of game design, virtual real estate management and blockchain technology. With the blockchain technology and smart contracts behind NFT, women are empowered to develop valuable digital assets, earn an income and increase their independence. This not only removes traditional barriers to entrepreneurship, but also fosters a more inclusive and diverse virtual ecosystem.
To celebrate these efforts, The Sandbox is also partnering with Women in Web3's Paris office to host an event on June 16, 2023, featuring presentations by Marie Franville, a Web3 female entrepreneur from Nabiya, and Aurélie Bensoussan from Metaverse Studio. Bensoussan from Metaverse Studio.
This event provides a platform for women to learn from each other, communicate and showcase their innovations. Through such collaboration and exchange, it will further promote women's participation and development in the Web3 space, promote gender equality and diversity, and bring more new opportunities and possibilities for the development of the virtual community as a whole.
Web3 and the metaverse have great potential to empower women, break down barriers, unlock new opportunities and shape the digital landscape.

World of Women and The Sandbox exemplify how women can actively participate, create and lead virtual worlds. By embracing the power of Web3 and the meta-universe, women can drive meaningful change, says World of Women, who have a four-fold mission: to enhance the ecosystem by supporting artists and funding projects; to educate new people; to increase focus on women-oriented causes and give back to charitable organizations; and finally, through grants from TSB, to mentor and funding artists through the Web3 journey from minting to the actual sales process.

WoW and Sandbox also intend to create a series of interactive experiential courses in the Sandbox world through the WoW Foundation. These courses will include a WoW museum on a 2×2 site, a WoW University offering free online courses on how to get started with Web3, and a WoW Academy that will serve as a mentoring and funding incubator.
Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, also commented, "By promoting education and funding for women's programs, we hope to foster a new generation of influential women.
Conclusion
The advent of Web3 and the metaverse has revolutionized the digital age, opening up exciting opportunities for everyone around the world. As women increasingly embrace the virtual world and utilize the Web3 platform to push traditional boundaries, women's empowerment will be an important part of this.
